And, we move to another year!
It is somehow very fascinating how the days pass by so quickly, year after year. It feels like yesterday when I got a chance to visit Madhya Pradesh and stayed at the majestic Noor Us Sabah Palace.
Noor Us Sabah meaning ‘the light of dawn’ was built in the 1920s by H.H Hamid Ullah Khan for his daughter Begum Adiba Sultan. Overlooking the tranquil beauty of Bhopal lake with beautifully drawn interiors – this piece of history is a charming combination of Tradition of Bhopal and the ultimate in luxury. With a unique design and exquisite style, Noor Us Sabah Palace is a part of Welcome Heritage hotels in India and is a delight in every step you take.
One of the finest residential palaces of Bhopal, Noor Us Sabah has 57 rooms – Standard, Royal Club, Premium Club, Crown Club Suite and Presidential Suite. The architecture of the palace reflects the regal time and grandeur of a bygone era. Here’s a glimpse of my wonderful room which I had all to myself for the 2 days in Bhopal.
My favorite part of the Palace was the open courtyard which gives a sense of Nawabi evening. You can catch a beautiful sunrise from here while you sit and hear the birds chirping around you. If you want, take a walk on the first floor of the palace and soak in the royal feeling the place has in store to offer you.
I have always found myself in love with such heritage buildings – be it forts, palaces, or the rock temples; and Noor Us Sabah is one of them. The palace has an open dining space in the palace by a lush garden which offers a beautiful sight of sunset every evening accompanying the view of a lake and Vindhya hills, called Sunset Bar-be-que Restaurant. It has live music performance on weekends.
After a lavish dinner, you can take a walk or sit by the swimming pool which promises a grand look of the palace mixed with the beauty of moon and stars.
The Palace Hotel is accessible from the airport and Bhopal station. It is also near to the sightseeing areas we wrote about in our first blog of the #MagnificentMP series. There’s also a coffee shop in the outer area of the Palace which is different in design from that of the hotel called Cafe Latte.
If you want to shop and take home a souvenir, there’s a boutique called Libas for you to buy traditional clothes, jewelry and Juttis from. The boutique closes by 6pm in the evening and opens at 10am. And, if this is not enough to make you like your stay at the palace, refresh and rejuvenate at the spa or hit the gymnasium.
So the next time you are in Bhopal and want to taste the sense of tradition and luxury, this is an abode waiting to host you!
