Movie Review: Is Deadpool 2 worth your money?

The wait is over now that Deadpool 2 is in cinemas. But is it worth your money or not? Let’s find out with Srishti Millicent.

Humour, drama, action, tragedy, love, hate – Deadpool is a combination of all these genres.

The highly anticipated movie was released on May 18th in India and has received positive reviews so far. Filmed in the shadow of 20th Century Fox, the first part of Deadpool was released back in 2016 and Deadpool 2 is the second installment in the Deadpool series.

But who is Deadpool?

Deadpool is a superhero that posses’ special powers like regeneration abilities and invincibility. Originally known as Wade Wilson, Deadpool got his powers when he underwent an experiment to get his cancer cured. But in return, was turned into a super human aka mutant.

The character of Deadpool was first introduced in the movie X-Men: Origins. Back then, Deadpool wasn’t as cool as now. But with time, Deadpool got its own series and hence, the first movie was developed.

The role of Deadpool has been played by Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and the latest part of Deadpool features stars like Josh Brolin as time-traveler cyborg  Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino and Morena Baccarin as Vanessa. The story takes place around a new mutant, whom Deadpool needs to save at all cost.

I must say that the second installment in the series wasn’t upto the hype as the first one. I found first half boring because most of the times Wade Wilson is blabbering. It gets hard to bear those jokes after a point. But thankfully, I retained my interest in the second half where the actual Force X takes birth. Well, you will be glad to see a known face as a part of Force X.

Dopinder, played by Karan Soni, has done a fabulous job in his role and I am really glad that he got enough spotlight this time. But the character that actually took my breath away was Cable. American Actor Josh Brolin, known for his role as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, looks stunning as Cable both in terms of looks and acting (plus points to the casting team of Deadpool). Though, I was a bit disappointed as Cable is one potential character and they could have got a lot out of it.

There are many Easter Eggs in the movie, many pop culture references have been used  – from Robocop to Judge Dredd and the as usual Deadpool fourth wall breaking scenes. The best part of the movie is post-credits scene and that’s where the party begins. Apart from all these surprises, a special present has been kept for the audience in the second half that will actually make you scream (and might give an orgasm to the superhero nerds like me).

In a nut shell, an action packed movie with a lot of bad jokes but you will surely stay entertained with a wide grin on your face throughout the movie.

Rating – 3.5/5
