Status Alert: It’s Finally Here!

That’s what likely seems to be the WhatsApp status now at the app’s garage as it finally rolls out the WhatsApp For Business. The rumours built excitement in the later half of 2017 when the news started floating out that WhatsApp was associating with various brands in global markets and testing a new feature for business. And said and dusted, it is now available for the Indian market too. Currently though, WhatsApp For Business is available only for Android users, compatible for 4.0.3 version and above and the iOS users might have to wait a little longer for the update.

But what’s the drum-rolls all about? Why should businesses be excited about the new announcement?

It’s simple! With this app, businesses now directly have a conversation with their customers, hoard data of leads and avail diverse new features that makes a business owner’s life easier.

With tools to automate, sort, and quickly respond to messages, that exactly what the roll-out has in store for us, let’s explore:

1) Same Difference:

While the features seem to be improvised for the business owners it thumps a resemblance to the regular WhatsApp we currently use. With the WhatsApp Business app we can continue to set privacy on our profile photo or status, make voice and video calls, share live locations and block unwanted users.

2) Who Are You, Dear Business?

Just like our own Profile, we can create a business profile telling our customers who we are, what we do and where they can know more about us. We can customise our information with our Business Name, About Our Business, Address, Email ID and Website details.

3) Currently Unavailable!

We often get stuck in meetings while our customers try to have a conversation with us. No worries! We can now leave them an ‘Away’ message. As soon as the customer now sends a message and we can’t instantly reply to them, we can always enable an automated message as a prompt reply so that our customers aren’t waiting or judging us as a less-responsive brand. This feature can be disabled whenever we want/come back online and can attend the conversations ourselves.

4) Hello There!

Now just like the ‘Away’ message we can also customise and automate a ‘Greeting’ message to our users who are starting a conversation with us. The idea here is to build a conversation with them and sustain it to solve all their queries.

5) Ask, Answer and Repeat!

The brilliance of the automated replies introduced are customised further with keywords. It simply works like an FAQ section where you have standard replies automated basis the keyword. For example; taking our The Digital Brunch as a case, we could have standard conversations set basis keywords like ‘course details’, ‘fees’ and so on, thus solving a customer’s query instantly.

As easy as it sounds, it’s time to experiment it and hope this new introduction brings more business-friendly features in the weeks to come.
