Eastrail Trilogy – 177

When we talk about superheroes, at once we think about the two leading names in the Hollywood responsible for the huge wave of superhero movies. These are Marvel and DC. We often connect them to their comics as to understand the plot behind and to guess the elements that will be included in the next movie. But how cool will be a superhero movie with no comics of its own? A movie that will keep you on your toes and will make you anticipate for its next part. That’s what director Shyamalan had in his mind while creating the Eastrail Trilogy-177.
Do you know that the three movies – Unbreakable (2000), Split (2016) and Glass (2019) are inter-connected because of a disaster that took place in the fictional world created by the American director M. Night Shyamalan.
That’s right! Eastrail Trilogy-177 took birth when a disaster took place in the timeline of Unbreakable movie.  The Eastrail Train with number 177 derailed near Philadelphia due to a mechanical fault. Everyone on the train died but only one passenger, David Dunn (played by Bruce Willis), survived the accident. Soon he realizes that he has been bestowed with supernatural powers and that’s the reason why he survived the crash without any scratch. This is how the term “Eastrail 177 Trilogy” was coined.
Now let’s bring the character of Split into the scene whose name is Kevin Wendell Crumb. He lost his father in the Eastrail disaster. While Mr. Glass (played by Samuel L. Jackson), the antagonist of the movie Unbreakable, is the man behind the whole disaster who wanted to locate to David Dunn.
You must be aware of the Split movie that how a man named Kevin Wendell (played by James McAvoy) has 23 personalities while his 24th personality and the most horrible personality is unleashed in the form of a Beast. Mr. Glass has also been mentioned at the very end of the movie Split as a female patron draws a comparison between Kevin and a wheelchair-using criminal aka Mr. Glass.
Glass will be released on January 18th, 2019 and it will be the last movie of the trilogy that will put an end to the whole series. So far, the story is said to be based on security guard David Dunn’s struggle to hunt Kevin Wendell, following the incidents of Split. You’ll get to see some known faces from the previous two parts in the last movie.
Even though the stories of the three movies are connected due to one incident, yet they have different themes, style and composition. Unbreakable is a mystery/supernatural movie, Spilt is a horror-thriller movie and Glass is supposed to be based on a different theme as well. Three of the movies carry different emotions, characters and plot.
The trilogy as a whole is said to be “the first auteur shared superhero universe”. M. Shyamalan created the series with an intention for the people to acknowledge that they are special in one way or the other. Indeed it is a unique approach but the motto behind his work is praise-worthy.
